Background
Since 2001, a meeting of the Representatives of Competent Authorities identified under the Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident (‘Early Notification Convention’) and the Convention on Assistance in the Case of a Nuclear Accident or Radiological Emergency (‘Assistance Convention’) is organized every two years at IAEA Headquarters.
Objectives
The main objectives of the meeting are to share information on national emergency preparedness and response (EPR) arrangements and capabilities; discuss the implementation of the Early Notification and Assistance Conventions; familiarize participants with the latest EPR guidelines and tools developed by the IAEA; exchange experiences and good practices in EPR; evaluate exercises, including the ConvEx-3 (2013) international exercise; select regional members of the National Competent Authorities’ Coordinating Group (NCACG) for the next two years; and elect the new Chair of the NCACG.
